Amazon is the latest tech firm to retrench as business slows Photograph: Brent Lewin/BloombergAmazon has paused hiring for corporate positions in its retail business, the latest sign that the world’s largest e-commerce company is adjusting its workforce to slowing online sales.
The company will pause recruitment until the end of the year, according to a person familiar with the matter. Amazon is the latest tech company to try to control costs amid signs of a weakening economy. Facebook parent Meta last month announced plans to reduce headcount for the first time.
