Zico, Coke's top coconut water brand, is the latest to be axed as food and beverage companies cut underperforming products during the pandemic

Coca-Cola is ending production of Zico, a coconut water brand it acquired in 2013, the company confirmed. The news was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

A Coke spokesman confirmed to Business Insider that Coke Life, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, Northern Neck Ginger Ale, and Delaware Punch are among the brands and flavors that the company is reviewing. Coca-Cola has also decided to make Hubert's Lemonade available only at foodservice customers, removing the brand from retailers' shelves.

Worldwide, sales of plant-based beverages, which include oat- and soy-based options in addition to coconut water, totaled $12.4 billion in 2019, according to Grand View Research. Zico competed for market share with privately-owned Vita Coco, though retailers including Amazon have also introduced private-label coconut water in recent years.

Other companies that make grocery-store staples, from Clorox to spice maker McCormick, have also cut back the number of products they make during the pandemic.

Stop used the plastic!

Before I even tried it. Strange...

CocaCola is a morally bankrupt organization cynically shifting diabetes-laden fizzy colored sugar water; they deserve to be buried as soon as possible:

It's nasty and not flavored well. Vitamin Water and Bai are much better!
