Fauci said that US govt held off promoting face masks because it knew shortages were so bad even doctors couldn't get enough

who said that the increased demand for masks was putting medical professionals at risk.

Fauci explained the early advice against masks by saying: "The public health community — and many people were saying this — were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N-95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply."He added that the government did not want healthcare workers "to be without the equipment that they needed ... We were afraid that that would deter away the people who really needed it.

"We also know that simple cloth coverings that many people have can work as well as a mask in many cases." Fauci also came out "unequivocally" in favour of wearing masks in public, even though they do not offer a guarantee.

Everyone who was paying attention knew this back in March. Hoarders would have caused tens of thousands more deaths, including many HCWs.

So Dr Fauci 'admits' the US held off promoting face masks because doctors couldn't get enough? What about people using home made masks which doctors can't? And why did Surgeon General Adams say 'masks' were 'NOT effective at keeping general public from catching coronavirus?'

Incompetent and dangerous admission. Government guidance has been undermined once again. Do not trust the government to look out for you.

I havet seen him stand aside of DT for long time but I believe what he said. and I believe that some one in the US government stock up the face mask for higer price one hand and control the import of face mask by FDA standard another hand

This is like what happened with the Tuskegee syphilis study. We would have been better off with an initial run on supplies followed by actually invoking the Defense Production Act

Fauci isaDemonRat 😂

We knew this.

Trillions for killing Muslims all over the world but not prepared for an influenza evil devils scum

Will somebody please get him on dancing with the stars already so the country can move on with the pandemic fauci fiasco.

lopezlinette Still can’t

lopezlinette This is why so many of us ... made our own masks! A simple solution would have been to encourage everyone to do the same.

No kidding. Took this back in February when we were told masks “won’t help”, that we shouldn’t wear them. I said screw that, it’s a contagious virus you idiots, this is what I do just to avoid the flu in the winter on public transportation. Thank god i did too. Boston

They didn't want their facial recognition software to not work, not a shortage

The Truth About Wearing Masks

Why did y’all listen to this dude? Putting value on the biggest puppet of them all regarding Covid.

Frank_McG Ummm...didn’t this come out in beginning? Maybe it got lost in trumps divisive, chaotic, divert, deflect confuse tactics?

They didn't hold off. They lied.

Most ignorant reasoning I’ve heard.

ooh so it lied for the 'greater good'. Is the same happening with climate change to get off foreign oil?

What? The U.S. has a fabric shortage?!?

From the beginning they said face masks were needed for first responders. If face masks were not effective why would first responders have needed them? They were just lying to all of us. Wash your hands!
