Markets are looking to the Fed as a soothing force when it meets in the week ahead, but there's a risk it could disappoint.

The Fed holds its last meeting prior to the presidential election in the week ahead, and while it's likely to sound dovish, it may not give markets the details on policy that investors want to hear.

The Fed's two-day meeting is expected to end Wednesday with minor tweaks to its statement and some clarity on how it plans to use forward guidance. The Fed also updates its economic and interest rate outlook, including forecasts for 2023 for the first time. Stocks were volatile in the past week, falling hard and rallying again, leaving the S&P 500 with a decline of about 3% for the week. The harder hit Nasdaq was down about 5% for the week. The quadruple expiration of options and futures at the end of the coming week could add to the volatility.

BTIG strategist Julian Emanuel said the market could focus on the fact that Congress failed to make headway on fiscal stimulus, if the economic data begins to disappoint.

What would the poor little stock market do without the FED? 😱

If they're writing an article about it then it means they're already doing it. VIX derivatives aren't acting right. They're already suppressing volatility.

Why have responsible fiscal policy when you can flex monetary policy

Seriously what else can the Fed even do? This constant printing of money only further inflates the credit & equity bubble & does NOTHING to help main street. Kick the can kick the can kick the can keep the party going for the 1%. What a fraud of a system.
