KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 — Industry players in the fisheries and agriculture sector have been told to take advantage of the RM210 million Food Guarantee Fund before the end of the year since a portion of the fund is still available and not utilised.

“To date, 223 fishing vessels have been approved for the fund under the Vessel Modernisation and Equipment Mechanisation Programme totalling RM150 million. The fund for all the 223 vessels is RM51 million. He said the initiative was also an opportunity for local fishermen to upgrade and modernise their vessels from the safety aspect and improvement on the quality of the catch.
