Jacksonville office sector: City benefits from multiple relocations

The office sector arguably received the most adversity since the beginning of the pandemic, altering the way people work and how employers view the spaces they rent.

“Companies with leases expiring are forced to make a decision,” Barakat said. “Most are giving back space and determining work from home is a long-term situation. The big question mark is when those leases expire, what’s going to happen?” “2022 was a year of dipping your toe in the shallow end and see what happens if you make employees come back,” he said.

“A lot of it is going to depend on if and when there is a recession, that’s the primary challenge to the office,” Loftin said.
