A massive study found that coronavirus patients who took the malaria drug touted by Trump had a higher risk of death

A massive study of 96,032 hospitalized coronavirus patients found that the antimalarial medications hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine did not appear to benefit the patients who took them.

Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine got attention early in the pandemic as a potential treatment for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The drugs are approved for other uses but not for the treatment of COVID-19.We just got even more evidence that the antimalarial medications touted by President Donald Trump aren't a good bet for treating the coronavirus.
