The Irish Home Builders Association said that in the worst-case scenario a 10% levy on concrete blocks, pouring concrete and other concrete products could add up to €3,000 to house construction costs

The Minister for Finance said the construction industry levy is needed to pay for the"significant cost" of the redress scheme.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Mr O'Connell said the worst case could see up to €3,00 being added to the construction costs. He said the construction industry"understand the dilemma the Government has in relation to a faulty product that was supplied into the construction sector". This makes no sense. Why not rather put in stricter quality controls and inspections, prior to buildings being built and / or signed off. It will save alot of time, effort and heartache. If we are expecting 80m worth of issues each year then something is truly rotten.

That’s ok so.

Why didnt they sue the builders or quarries insurance company ?

Timber houses are the solution.

And will just be passed on to the end consumer....the price just went up.

And their margin they make is !

The North West gave us Quinn Insurance who we all still pay a levy for! Now with Mica, they give us a levy on bricks. Britain knew what it was doing when it did not annex the North West into Northern Ireland, 100 years ago! The North West: Incompetent and one big bad debt!
