In a speech addressed to New Yorkers on Wednesday, Adams vowed to fight what he called the "entirely false" indictment with "every ounce of my strength and my spirit."
This week, New York City Public Schools Chancellor David Banks announced plans to retire at the end of the year. Banks had also turned his phone over to federal authorities. "If I am charged, I am innocent and I will fight this with every ounce of my strength and spirit," Adams said in a statement Wednesday night.
