In just over a year, Papa John’s has launched a number of new initiatives aimed at creating a better and more inclusive workplace culture.

Marvin Boakye was named as Papa John’s first chief people officer in January 2019 and became chief people and diversity officer by November 2019.

Among those initiatives is the Dough & Degrees program, launched in February 2019 in partnership with Purdue Global, which covers full tuition costs of undergraduate and graduate online degree programs for team members. . But, especially with the creation of her role and Boakye’s chief people officer role, that work was put into a more focused bucket.

The company has also created Employee Resource Groups that host discussions to help with diversity, equity and inclusion training. The ERGs were created about 18 months ago.
