But isn’t that the point? To redefine their target market

You're alienating your target market with this post. Unfollowed

I tried to find a valid point in this but couldn't. If the clergy/parents had done a good job in raising these men, metoo wouldn't exist. One in 5 women wouldn't be sexually assaulted. 1 in 4 wouldn't experience domestic violence. You think that behaviour doesn't warrant debate?

GilletteBR Gillette não mais

Women buy Gillette brand razors, too. There are lots of different markets to target and they made an emotional connection with a bunch of them with one ad.

Important social issues Spare me

A much, much larger portion don't give a shit.

Alienated the large “terrible humans” segment of their market.

Maybe they realize women do most of the shopping.

Alienating your customers isn't a good thing. The SJW brand and advertising people that concocted this campaign need to be unemployed. Maybe they can find work in a think tank or government job. They are not good at capitalism.

I disagree. If the shoe fits, it’s time to buy new shoes. If the shoe doesn’t fit, go on about your male lives.

Funny how the seeing some truth in an ad will drive you nuts. Bravo Gillette for making this ad! 👍👍👍👍👍

Imagine being so fragile a commercial saying “hey guys, let’s not be the absolute worst” feels like a personal attack

Unemployed men who live in their parents basement probably isn’t the target any successful business really wants or needs.

Or maybe they're calling out a system rather than men as individuals. No need to get defensive, boys.

Is there going to be a female equivalent?

They need to stay in their lane.

I guess they think old school guys are gonna croak in 20 years anyway. Problem is... half the millennial guys don't shave anyway since they're sporting beards to cloak a lack of masculine traits. They may applaud but they're not buying razors. Short that stock.

Toxic collectivizing feminism. Alpha males will fight back. Sick ad.

The ad was cringey as hell.

The only ones complaining are the ones who can't grow a whisker to save their life. Maybe Gillette wants real examples of men.

You mean the ones who think bullying and sexual assault are acceptable if you have a penis

Gillette may have created quite the conversation around their brand. Doubt this will destroy them, on the contrary the brand now has a distinct identity - love it or hate it!

So much man hating. Why have women become so insecure with themselves. Weak

they should be applauded for trying to start the conversation. that men feel “alienated” is part of the problem. it’s odd that after many millennia at the top of the power pyramid, men are so fragile, but i’m pretty sure that is linked to being told not to be too emotional irony

But they gained this...

It’s okay. Their wives probably do their shopping 😆

Not coincidentally, those 'alienated' by the Gillette 'Toxic Masculinity' campaign are toxic men. In other news, real men with healthy senses of self and strong moral foundations have expressed appreciation and support. Go figure.

WTPatty Get Woke Go Broke! In fact “Those social issues related to masculinity” you are trying to talk about is bs!!!! Sick of people attacking men!!! gillette has lost my business!

C'mon Forbes, you know Gillette market tested toxic masculinity just like Nike did with racism. They don't want these shitbirds representing their customer base, and they'll gain a lot of new customers from their competitors... like me.

If Gillette made an ad saying women are all golddiggers, or too emotional or manipulative, what do you think would happen? People would flip out because stereotypes are stupid.

They generalized me, a man, without even knowing me as 'toxic' or a problem rooted in 'toxic masculinity' As of today I am a Schick man. Vote with your wallet.

Funny because people are boycotting gilletteboycott

100%.

so it alienated the assholes, bullies, and degenerates? seems like they fired those men as customers.

Ah! But of course, P&G has been a moral exemplum since....fucking never! How many of their products are over priced and unnecessary and bully women into buying them? Tampons cost how much?

Like Nike did?

maybe Gillette doesn't want toxic pseudo alpha male types as their target market anymore. can't say i blame em. cheers to them for encouraging a new definition of manhood.

Why Gillette's New Ad Campaign Is ToxicWhile it focuses on important social issues related to masculinity, Gillette has alienated a large proportion of its target market. This article provides a historical perspective on Gillette's 'Best a Man Can Get' campaign and explains what has gone wrong with the updated version. Proctor and Gamble stock is up this morning because market movers think any publicity is good publicity, and since woman make many household purchasing decisions they assume this will have a positive affect. This is a product of cultural isolation. It assumes males are bad people by default, and generalizing anyone, male or female, without knowing them or their character...is stupid. I am not a 'toxic male', my parents raised me right. The men railing against this ad - commenting about 'stereotypes' and screaming NOT ALL MEN are toxic. The Gillette ad, however, is not.
